May 12, 2014 at 2:54 am in reply to: different encoding results from Adobe Premiere CC vs. Media Encoder CCI added it to the OpenCL text file if memory serves. I will have to double check when I get to work tomorrow. It was the only way to be able to choose between software only and GPU. Software only was available until I did that. Went from red preview status to a yellow bar.
Another funny thing is I get better playback from my GSpeedQ using software only for some reason (less dropped frames). Video would consistently slow or stop once multi-layered video appear on the timeline. Can’t convince the boss to get me a Quadro card or even more RAM for that matter.
When I get a chance, I will try a test on my home computer and see if there are differences.

May 11, 2014 at 1:12 pm in reply to: different encoding results from Adobe Premiere CC vs. Media Encoder CCI am using a 2010 Mac Pro with the stock Radeon card. 8 GB RAM.OSX Mountain Lion.
I actually get better playback performance with the Mercury engine. I have tried rendering with and without the GPU after adding the card name into the the txt file. The results are the same with or without GPU

I thought that’s what the update was for? Or is that just Hyperdeck Studio is supported?

Wasn’t this debacle what everyone feared when he was named as the development lead for the new version of FCP? I even wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, he couldn’t possibly trash what FCP had built up over the past 10 years… WRONG!!! He should be let go unless if Apple truly does not want to play in the pro app market anymore.

Yeah no serial number (should tell you right there its not ‘Pro’), you can share with friends (all 2GB worth), but I would only wish this software on my direct competitors and enemies!

Yes I kept it. I may play around with it but really I can’t use this in a pro situation. Kind of like a demo software with it limited functionality. Now I have to get my money back for Motion and Compressor!

I was refunded here is the reply:
Due to higher volume of requests we were unable to process your request within the committed time frame. I sincerely apologize for the delay in assisting you.
I’m sorry to hear that the Mac application “Final Cut Pro” you recently purchased is not functioning as expected. I know how eager you are to have the charge reversed. I will surely help you in reversing the charge.

I downloaded FCPX on my system thinking I was getting a DMG file to install from. I freaked when it automatically installed and I thought it overwrote my FCP 7. Thank God it just put it in the Applications folder. I have both on my system and they both still open and work without issue, well FCP 7 works without issue. FCPX has issues, period!
