I probably should have provided more info in my post. I currently edit with CS1 for Windows and use Vitascene and a couple other ProDad products. My intent is to upgrade to CS3 (or more likely CS4) and then crossgrade to the Mac version to edit any future projects (i have a new MacBook Pro running XP and OS X). I won’t need to open any previous projects from CS1 in CS3 or 4.
If the ProDad effects plugins won’t work on Mac software, does anyone know of a similar set of effects pluigins that would? (www.prodad.de)

Thanks for the tip! I checked out the table properties and the boxes for height and width attributes are unchecked. When I type in the table cells, I will often resize them manually so that the lines of text are the width that I want them. Thoughts?

I think you may be right about the tables issue. Any idea of how to work around this?

Oh, i see. What do Mac users do if they wish to export a video file (say, a project from Premiere Pro to a single .avi file) that is larger than 4 GB to an external hard drive?

The drive doesn’t make any unusual noise, it’s just the audio and picture that skips or stutters. I just popped in a commercial DVD and, while it’s not as pronounced, the problem is still there. The DVDs I used to burn the projects were Magnavox DVD+R.

So I just got back from the Apple store here and I’m still drooling. I totally want a 20″ iMac. So the question is, how to upgrade my software. I have Video Collection Pro and, from what I understand, the only upgrade option is to Production Studio. So if I wanted to upgrade to CS3, I could upgrade to PS, then again to CS3, and save $200. Anybody know if you can cross platforms when you upgrade? For example, I have Video Collection for PC, but want to upgrade to CS3 for Mac.
Maybe I should just buy it outright! LOL

Thanks for all the input! I’m actually looking to buy a laptop and am having a hard time finding one that comes with XP. Could I replace Vista with XP from the CDs that came with my desktop?

October 29, 2007 at 4:56 am in reply to: render issue: AE locks up on a specific frameWhen I reduce to 1/4 and do a RAM preview, it works fine. But if I try to at full quality, or try to render at full quality, it locks up AE. I’ve only got 1 GB of ram and I’m doing some pretty complex stuff with the help of Mr. Kramer and his Riot Gear product. Do I need to upgrade my RAM, maybe?

I did what you suggested, thanks for the advice. The DV AVI filesize was 699 MB, and the resulting Quicktime MOV file with the Sorenson 3 codec was only 178 MB. I’m looking for the MOV to be about the same quality as the original AVI. Does converting DV AVI to Quicktime compress the video? I’m just curious because of the big difference in filesizes.

Thanks for the comments. I’ve used that method before, but it seems to work best on a constant sound. The airplane sound varies quite a bit from beginning to end and it’s tough to find a sample for the noise reduction profile that will get rid of most of the instances of the sound.
