This is still a terrific technical resource about expressions:
https://www.jjgifford.com/expressions/
And while this is old it is *not* out-of-date.

Add another KF for the loop. So if KF 1 is frame 0, and KF 2 is frame 1, KF 3 repeats frame 0.

The author is demonstrating the use of expressions to link properties together. This is achieved by alt/option clicking on the time-vary stopwatch to invoke expression mode. Then the properties are linked using the pick-whip.
Look up expressions in After Effects help.
I’ve re-created the arrow as demonstrated here:

If you are just beginning to use After Effects there are many good tutorials here on the COW.
For some other motion graphics oriented tutorials you may find some here:

This may be as simple as using the Twirl effect and a shape layer with a repeater.

Its not the export codec that causes the issue. It may be the H.264 ingest from the Canon. H.264 does not contain whole frames and so After Effects needs to generate them. Try converting these first to ProRes *then* replace them in the After Effects comp.

July 8, 2014 at 3:01 pm in reply to: Rendering Issues in AE Comp with multiple video clips playing simultaneouslyMy first thought is that the source video is may be compressed in a format that uses a long GOP and when After Effects tries to reconstitute the frames on render it introduces errors.
If that’s the case try converting the video with Media Encoder to a format (eg: ProRes, DNxHD) which contains whole frames of data then replace the footage in your composition with the converted video.

Could you trace the outlines in Illustrator and then paste it in After Effects?

That’s what I want, by keeping the animation tween if possible.”
When the vertices move it will interpolate a new tween. If you need to hold the vertices at a position, use a hold keyframe.

In the 4th pic it tweening in it original position instead of the intended new position.”
The keyframes in the posted images do not change position, the first keyframe remains at 0 and the second remains at 2:18.
Do you want to move all the mask vertices to a new position or move the keyframes?
Do you want a new animation tween or do you want all vertices at the new position at both keyframes?
