Has anyone played an Avid created quicktime (175x) and had the audio play out the Hyperdeck’s HDMI? We’ve tested playing audio through the unit (HDMI in/out passthrough) and that works, and recorded onto the unit via HDMI and that audio plays back fine. But audio on an Avid-exported quicktime doesn’t. Big Endian (Avid’s default), Little Endian (converted using Compressor), assigning the channels in Quicktime to mono or discrete or left/right makes no difference. I’ve pasted the audio from the recorded clip into the exported clip… no good. The only difference I see in the ‘properties’ in quicktime is that the recorded clip has 16 channels (only first two have audio, as was fed to it) and the exported clip has only 2.

Otherwise, a very appealing little piece of gear that may be perfect for taking edits to screening rooms.

Playback of DNx36 files would be very welcome in my cutting room… great device to take Avid outputs to screening rooms.

  • Anyone know if the Shuttle2 would at least play back DNxHD 36 files if copied to the drive? That’s all I need in order to use this as a screening source.
    Thanks

I too wish DVD SP had a watermark that would burn-in. I use Compressor’s Filter tab in the inspector, choose ‘Watermark’ and choose a file that you’ve created in photoshop, with the placement you desire.

Why is this still a problem? I accidentally had my number of realtime audio tracks reset to a low number and when I returned it to match my number of tracks much of the audio indicated it needed to be rendered, which I did. Then I couldn’t solo any tracks- it would solo for a moment, until it hit a new clip in the timeline and then all the tracks would play again. Really odd. I turned on and off a track to un-render it (another crazy thing) and solo functions normally… buggy buggy buggy.
    All’s well for now.

  • Yeah, funny you should mention it… today cutting and pasting is working fine. Although this morning I rendered all the smoothcams (again) and a couple minutes later they were all gone again. Gremlins.

Same problem here tonight- screening in the morning.
I’ve tried exporting a Quicktime movie of just the areas where there is new media but so far everything exports fine… just somewhere along the way something’s locking up in a General Error.

  • Hey Shane,
Thanks… I’m just feeling a little pissy this morning.
I’ll try trashing preferences… after it finishes rendering!

  • Heck, it even loses renders when you copy and paste within the same sequence!
I sure hope Apple hires back the programmers they let go- this program is not done.

I can’t be rendering all the time (re-render all smoothcams every day)
I would love to be able to match frame to the project/bin a clip came from, since I have to split a feature film up into multiple projects.
I wold love to see a useful editable list of markers or all types.

    oh well.

    Hey Elizabeth,
Away from the cutting room for a few days… how nice for me!
Well, all I know is my assistant and I are having no problems playing the same ProRes LT material at the same time. And as I said, HQ 1920×1080 worked great on my last show with this setup. Mind you, we’re not laying back to tape so dropped frames are not an issue… but I don’t see any.
My MacBookPro is a couple years old so I don’t know about the problem with the newer ones and jumbo frames… my director is an old hollywood pro- I’m sure he feels all his frames are jumbo!

    Good luck
    Brian
