Well it often depends on the footage, but generally 30p in a 24p looks like odd. Not because of anything X is doing, but because of the framerate mismatch. If you have a pan, or even just pay attention to the details of movement, it looks choppy, because even though any nle can take it in, it has to drop a frame every few frames to keep the timing. Ditto if you put 24p in a 30. Sure it plays fine and doesn’t hamper things, but it just looks bad on movement having to duplicate every 4th frame. So I’m excited about this conform panel I’ve never seen, because, like many others, if I just have a shot to add that is a mismatch, I generally don’t worry about it if it looks acceptable. I’d rather use the original source than run it through compressor. But now I’ll play with it with optical flow. I just gave the 4 options a whirl and flow was the best. Frame blend was nearly as good, but you could see it sometimes. The first two were just dropping frames.

Why have I never seen nor heard of this? Have we always had this? This is amazingly cool.

The shift is just to keep the bezier handle in line with the straight path, correct? Because it seems to work with or without shift. I’ve had this work on occasion in the past, and recently it wasn’t working. Possible it broke for a version or two?

Now, to go see if that’s the trick in resolve. They removed the graphing for position in v12, and with it the ease controls for position.

Can you clarify? All I can get them to do is spatial. Curves (smooth) or linear. Seems like in some version I was able to trick it into easing, but not lately.

Did you do that with the workaround where you add a keyframe, then delete it?

You’re aware there is a TC readout right there in the middle of the interface right? 😛

I would suggest in a music video that you put all the video as connected clips, and the music in the timeline, since the music is the narrative you’re connecting the shots to.
That said, if you want to move things around without them shifting, use the P tool instead of the A tool.

My BMD card comes with batch capture / edit to tape software. Doesn’t AJA / Matrox?

I have a 1tb library job right now. Loads up next to instantly. Maybe you should move the project to the media drive. 🙂
Doesn’t mean I don’t get sluggishness other times. But loading projects? No.

I prefer the library on the Raid 5 so it has that protection, plus simpler to leave cache and/or footage in it, and also the backups in their default on the internal. Double protection. And if the system drive goes down I could hook the raid up to the laptop and instantly continue working. Works for me. But I’m not dealing with San. Just shuttling drives back and forth a lot.
