Where are you finding the time David? In trying to cut the Adobe cord I’ve had to learn Motion, and still keep up with AE. And before that of course ditch legacy and learn X and some Premiere. Now I’m digging in with Resolve (which is kinda useless for much real edit work without at least Universe OFX plugs) and I’ve done a tutorial on Fusion but sounds like you’re already using it for work! What are you using it for? MoGraph? Compositing?

I doubt that many people willing to rent their software have computers much older than 2012. I thought that metal was just an apple name for a tech that also exists on PC platform, no?

I never got the impression that Photos was supposed to be, nor was planned to be a replacement for Aperture. As a heavy user of iPhoto and now Photos, the difference is negligible better or worse. It’s just a rewrite of iPhoto. I don’t notice any performance difference and the tools are mostly the same, just relabeled or placed differently. So unless Apple specifically said something I wouldn’t hold my breath. I thought they ceded that battle to Lightroom.

Of course you have to go back. Can’t do much fx or titling in Resolve. Especially the titling you already did in FCP X or premiere. That stuff just doesn’t translate.

Yes, I’m misunderstanding the part about not seeing the door. So this would be the reverse shot of her staring at the door as the light hits her face. So first off, I’d simply start with some bloom/overexpose looks along with a draw mask to feather in just the area you want to bloom. So, just dissolving to a more overexposed shot with perhaps just an area of the shot overexposed. Yes, like could have been done on set. But alas, an hour of post is a lot cheaper than an hour of shoot day. Especially if it makes your shoot day run long!

Change the cache location. Render files aren’t media. They’re cache.

The built in stabilizer has a mode called tripod. But trackx, drivex, slicex combo is a great thing to have in your arsenal.

I assume you’d have to roto around the person opening the door as well.

They do come across just fine, as long as you have them installed in the same place on both systems. You might have a folder called free effects on one system while on another system you placed them in a folder called Alex3D. Or something like that.
