Welcome to the annoyance of selecting containers! You have to be very specific with containers. If you shift click it’s the equivalent of a lasso/marquee selection which will grab the clips and the container. FCPX wants one or the other. Either you want to move the clips in the container out of the container, or you want to move the container of clips. Can’t do both. So if you wanted to move a large selection of stuff including clips and containers, you’d have to cmd click all the containers, but then you could cmd lasso the clips in larger pieces. Not always so efficient that magnetic timeline.

Are you shift clicking? looks like you’re shift clicking the second one, which would have the effect of selecting everything between the first selection, and the second selection. you want to cmd click the second one.

A thunderbolt raid 5. Even though I’m on a 2016 MB Pro, I’m still using a Pegasus R4 thunderbolt 1 I bought with my old 2011 iMac. I thought about upgrading to a TB3 version, but here’s what they don’t mention, the TB1 interface is faster than a 4 drive raid 5 can output. So the benefit is negligible. I would reccomend a 6 or 8 bay raid 5 nowadays to get the increased speed you’ll likely want for 4K/8k.

When I first started my site Inonly took payments through the PayPal system which is enclosed and https on its own. But I had to get a cert to add a stripe option (some customers had issue with PayPal) and quickly became aware of other benefits.
I think google is more apt to list and give good rank with the combination of good seo and https.

September 17, 2018 at 5:28 pm in reply to: FCPX Spatial Conform stretched only via Decklink Monitor OutputFCPX stretches to fit the source media (timeline) to the setting of the decklink. Other apps are more forgiving and will maintain the aspect of the two don’t match. So I think Jeremy is right, just make sure the decklink settings match your FCPX sequence settings. That is always the case.

I hear ya. i recently edited a 3 min corporate piece that was shot in 8k Red Raw. At one spot in the video I did a 4×4 grid of 8k Red Raw video. Of course I worked completely in Proxy, bringing that grid down to 4×4 grid of 4K ProRes Proxy files. Needless to say there was no real time playback.

September 14, 2018 at 1:42 pm in reply to: Advice: Filmed in 24 and need to export to 29You would definitely not use optical flow. You’re just doing what has been done forever. Taking 24fps and broadcasting it at 29.97i. That’s what TV does every day. Movies and shows are shot on film or video all the time and mastered at 24. Then you add pulldown and broadcast at either 60p (720p) or 60i(1080i). If you drop 24p into a 1080i timeline it will properly interlace it.

FWIW the link between Motion and FCPX is the REAL killer feature.

Not shortcuts. Hard links. They’re real files, not aliases. BUT they’re simply real files utilizing the same bits and bites as another file. High Sierra supports this function directly in the finder when duplicating files on the new drive format, but FCPX has been doing it for years.

September 13, 2018 at 9:02 pm in reply to: Black clips in timeline – source clips deleted from eventJust a tip on the XML import. Importing an XML results in hidden browser files so as not to clog up your browser. They’ll appear when you shift+F to match back. However, if you copy that project to another library, then the files will appear in the other project. I think you could then just copy it back again and have all the files. But that just solves your XML issue. Maybe it will help you trouble shoot.
I have had the black clip problem many many times with Worx4 X. If you’re not running it on an original library/project, then results can be iffy and you’ll potentially get the black clips. I’ve found no fix beyond editing the appropriate clip back in over it.
