FCP legacy had this option. Why would you want to set it to zero? If you’re looking to just see a counter you can just drag out a range and it will show a duration, which is almost as good as a counter.

When he said zoom down I think he meant scale down, so the whole group fit on the canvas. Then you’d zoom in to draw the stroke. Can always scale back up after. But if shift v works, it’s all good.

Oh sure. And I have 32gigs. My biggest fault is having all that cool motion vfx object stuff there in FCP X and scrubbing it. Or any 3rd motion templates really. Depending on their complexity, they’re pulling a full version of motion up into ram just to render them. Then, X is caching it into ram so that the next time you scrub it, it’ll be ready to go. The mObject ones are of course very ram heavy. As are ones with mflare.

The replicator trick can be pretty amazing in the hands of folks like motionvfx and others. Even AE folks rarely use extrusion because of the horrible render times. mObject is great if you’ve got it. And right now they’ve dropped the price and it’s on sale. If you use motion, I’d get it.
AE doesn’t even have replicator, but check out this template from ironykdesign https://videohive.net/item/broadcast-design-complete-news-package-5/6058779
We used it for a series of news videos. All the chrome extruded text is nothing but repeated layers in 3D space. They have specific outlines and a specific front layer to get the effect. The beveled glass with it’s refractions is amazing too, but the way it’s done has to do with empty nested comp layers. Not sure if it would work in motion. It’s almost a fluke of the way AE is designed.

Should work that way. But get a memory app like memory clean. As you use Motion and FCP X, you might feel FCP X lagging or Motion start to act squirrelly (less common). Take a look up and the memory available and you’ll see something like 245mb. Keep working and you’ll get a crash. Especially in FCP X.

The logo could be mObject or extruded via a replicator. Either can be manipulated within motion and interact correctly with other layers and lights.

Shift+V will show you what’s beyond the canvas. Albeit in a transparent kinda way. Might be all you need.

Aindreas the shift key is right over there. this reading like is watching Family Guy but of the flashback references none make sense did. i’m not sure they’re if complete sentences they. I thin someone’s had a pint! 🙂

$299? Wow I was basing my suggestions thinking you were talking about the lesser $150 one. Yeah, money is money. And if the OP needed 4k output, then sure it might surpass the $135 true video BMD mini monitor. But Don didn’t mention any need of 4k output. Only that it’s for his wife’s “cheap” company. I doubt they’re shooting 4k. Save the $299 to buy an extra computer monitor. Not a hub that to me, has very little value. They likely don’t need a single ethernet more less two. Extra usb 3 ports are kinda silly since you can buy bigger usb3 hubs for next to nothing. And the HDMI is a good choice if you need to see full resolution 4k, but an expensive way to see non-standard video output. For me, all the hub is good for is an extra Thunderbolt port or two. But I don’t even need that with two monitors, a BMD device and a Pegasus raid.
Except for when those clients bring the FW800 drives. Usually they have a USB 2 port as well, and I bill ’em by the hour to copy over their files, so…

You want to spend the extra cash, feel free. But it certainly costs more to buy an overpriced hub plus a BMD device.
