    Well, we use FCP. But I have a client who wants everything from mini DV masters digitized and backed up to external hard drives. If we export as Quicktime files, then any future editing would have to be done on a Mac, right? I think they are wanting a file that is cross platform. Therefore, I want to make sure that we can pull the AVI files into FCP and edit to our hearts content. Of course AVI will import easily to Avid and other PC based platforms, I just want to make sure we don’t make it difficult on ourselves later when they call and need us to pull files from the external drives for an editing project.

    Thanks for the response. SD MiniDV video shot with an XL1. Timeline settings? Perhaps I will check the manual to make sure they are right? Also, IN FCP, tried to animate the hi-res still images. Some motion key framing, and it seems that is causing most of the artifacting.
