I think you’ll find most networks take HD content on HDcam. I can’t imagine you would deliver in a file format, or small format hdv tape for this kind of program.

Why dont you do a test, or screener. Output the final product to HDCAM, (find a post house near-by that can help you out) and get the networks to look at it. At the end of the day, if the content is great, and the quality is good, there shouldn’t be a problem!

    Cheers

Although the Velocity has been great, and is still rock solid, there are issues. Cost being one of them. The Leitch gear just isn’t price competative here (AUS) anymore. (IMO).

There are lots of SD & HD options out there now.

Also format is an issue. We outsource alot of segment production, and it would be nice to use a format we can drop on the timeline. QT or AVI based.
We have the Leitch DPS file exporter for windows, but it’s buggy, unpredictable, and on some systems, just doesn’t work at all!

We also have just purchased a very grunty P4 laptop for field use, and would like to integrate the work from this unit into our online gear. Currently this is a very slow process with the velocity.

I’m just looking at options currently. I feel like hardware solutions are really only for IO in the near future, as PC power increases.

Great tips, but I think there is another issue with premiere. If you add a still, be it TGA, PSD, BMP..whatever, when premier renders it goes to crap. This may have something to do with the DV codec, but it most certainly goes way beyond it. I have found adding still images to the timeline containing text to be completely un-acceptable. Adding the a clip from say, after effects, of exactly the same image, but as an AVI, is fine. There’s something kooky cooking behind the scenes that screws the stills up.

Anybody else had this problem? I know I’m not being fussy!!!!
