Hi,

“PAL – DV”:

This is provided by Apple and is for capturing via firewire to the Apple DV codec. The video preview will also go out through the firewire connection of your Mac.

“Blackmagic PAL – DV”:

This is provided by us and is for capturing to the Apple DV codec via the input connections of the DeckLink card. The video preview of will use our cards’ outputs.

Yes it does. You just have to select the Blackmagic DV prject in Adobe Premiere.

So if I come in by firewire, how can I get the card to output a preview for my pal monitor.
I get it that if I come in from say my uvw through the card I get a prieview, but cannot get a preview by coming in from fire wire.
Is this something that is being looked at?

When capturing via firewire using Apple’s easy setup for DV, our cards are not involved at all. Since you can only use one Quicktime input device to capture, the DeckLink card is not activated and hence there is no video preview. This is how video capture is implemented in Quicktime and we do not have a workaround.

Hello,

My workaround goes like this; In FCP, capture via firewire in an Apple DV (easy setup) project. When you’re done capturing, change your FCP easy setup to Blackmagic DV. That way you will be able to edit while previewing your work through your BM card in your ref monitor.
