Wow, do they really take weeks to get back to you? I’ve buy Cinevate’s Brevis if that’s the case.

I use Varizoom VZ Rock for my EX 1. It works fine. I also have Manfrotto’s for my other cameras. They are very smooth. I know they have a version for the EX. Sorry that doesn’t help you with your problem, but if you return it, there are other choices.

I do all my editing in Final Cut, using the ProRes codec. Export final edit to a file. Import to iMovie. Share with iDVD.

Not the choice of many, but down and dirty. Looks fine to me. I’m sure there are better choices.

If possible I would do a pre-shoot on a few test scenes, run them through whatever post / colorizing you plan. Shoot these same scenes with the different settings you plan on using to see which works best for your production look.

I used to be a musician and was at the beginning of the digital recording studio’s switching from Tape. They used to always compare the “warm sound” of tape vs digital.

The technology is now going to be indifferent to the past in reference to the “film look.” What matters is the viewing public. They won’t be able to tell the difference even though us “techno-files” can.

When in a recording studio, the worst thing I heard was “fix it in the mix.” It comes down to “crap in – crap out.” It’s all about the story line with the technology being used as a tool to project that story.

So, do some test shoots, find your look, and use great lighting, great scripts, great actor’s, great directing, camera, sound, editing, etc.

Good luck, can’t wait to see it.

Cinevate makes an adapter especially for the EX-1.
    It’s the Brevis MP.2

Here is the link to hoodman

It’s the same adapter made by the company in Australia. Hoodman now is the USA rep., and slapped their sticker on it.

You also have to use the same exact lens if you want the same look.

I’m a cinevate fan, even though I don’t own the Brevis yet, it is on my list.

They do mention in one of their online demo’s that the heat the EX 1 generates may cause you to to loose some of your settings. You may have to re-set some of the columation, etc., if you shooting for long periods of time. I’m sure this is the case with both companies.

I would also call both companies directly with your questions.

Since the writing time on the SD cards is slower, make sure you give it a few seconds after the green light comes on before recording again or ejecting the card.

I was hoping to do the same thing with my EX 1 so I can save $500 on a flip module. Maybe you can mount your camera upside down (
