I use transcend, but have had issues in the past with them. I would not buy them again. I use San Disc on my DSLR. They are rock solid. I haven’t tried them on my EX-1.

EVERYTHING! To sum it up in one word.
The L Series Canon lens have great color. Fast lens don’t necessarily give you better looking images, they help in low light.
I have a 50 mm 1.4 canon that only cost $350 from B & H. It does look really good. But, when I look at the images from my L-Series, the colors are more vibrant.
Nikon also has some great lenses. I just don’t have any experience with them.
So, yes, you can have the best camera, but put on a cheap lens and you defeat the purpose.
Prime Lenses will give you fast glass and good color in the L-Series.

I never shoot handheld with a DSLR. There are just too many issues with jello and wave across the video. I have some kind of support system.
Yes, it is top heavy, and some support systems you can mount accessories. But, I prefer the top mount since I frequently am shooting on the fly and need to quickly switch between a tripod, portable support system, glidecam, slider, etc.
I do know there are some cage mount systems that look interesting. I haven’t had the chance to try them.

Consumers usually do not need such large cards, even though more comsumer cameras are now shooting video on these cards.
Online is the way to go. I’ve also used NewEgg.com to purchase some cards in the past.

Here are two alternatives. They mount in your shoe and let you mount multiple devices, such as a light, Zoom, wireless mic, etc.

When you plug in via usb, it acts like an external flash drive. Make a folder with your project title / shot title, and drag the entire BPAV folder into your project folder. Do not separate the files in the folder.
Final Cut or Premier will edit these files.

I’ve never had that problem. Maybe you have a bad mic or plug on your camera, or the file is partly corrupted. Sorry I can’t help.

There are classifieds here at the cow. You can post your production needs when they come up. This is also a good forum to post specific requests.
I’m in Florida and I have posted a need for shooters in the past with an email for response. This gave me a nice list of shooters for future projects too.
You may also find videographer associations in many cities. In Tampa you can use The Tampa Bay Area Professional Videographer’s Association. We frequently get requests and post these via our email or facebook page. We have quite a few DSLR shooters.
