I use the SandDisc Extreme. I think this is the one…I don’t have my card handy to reference. I’ve never had any issues with these cards and I’ve been using them for 3 years now.

A camera that can record a 4:2:2 color space is more suited for keying. Many newer cameras, Sony EX-1R, etc. can record to an external recorder in 4:2:2.
Of course, the best camera won’t really matter without proper lighting and software knowledge to pull a proper key.

Rode and Seinheiser both have Mic’s for the DSLR’s. You have to have a sound man if you are recording a band. Your Zoom should have a switch for Mic / Line or High / Low. You want the lowest gain setting so you are not overdriving the audio signal and creating distortion. I’ve used the built in Mic’s as well as patching directly into the board to a camera or the Zoom. Use a commbination of signals so you don’t have to worry if one doesn’t work out.

I have used the canon 5D Mk II and 7D. They both are great cameras.
But, if I were to purchase a camera today, I wouldn’t waste my money on a DSLR. I would buy the Panasonic AF-100. You get a film camera sensor with great low light and video camera features, such as audio control and built in ND filter that you can dial in.
You can use most DSLR lenses with an adaptor.

iMovie won’t handle it unless converted. He’ll need some conversion software. There is some free software for the Mac that he can download.
I personally would recommend he purchase Adobe CS5.5 or at least the new Adobe Premier Elements 10. Either should be able to handle the codec.

I 2nd the Vortex Media DVD on the EX-1 / EX-1R. He show’s you how to do the timelapse.
There are 3 settings. I don’t have my camera with me at this time, but 1/16, 1 frame, slow shutter. These settings are in there, just different terminology than the DSLR. It actually is easier than doing timelapse in the DSLR. You can watch it back in camera immediately after shooting.

Do you really have 8 hours of footage, or just 1 or 2 hours that you can loop?
Unless they want to pay an AV contractor to set up a system, I think the BluRay players in each building looping would probably work. My Doctor’s office has a set up on multiple floors in their building doing something like this. It was part of their construction. I think it all is played from a computer system.

Digital Juice has a large library of music that’s copyright free. Worth every penny.
Next time, let them know that this is putting undo risk to their company and your business. Give them some alternative samples of music that they can use.
Once you have developed a business relationship and their happy with your work, you can let them know how to do it the right way.

Video Maker magazine has many different types of forms & contracts you can purchase for download.
This is a good start, but it’s time you took in what you think you need to a good lawyer to get it reviewed. It’s worth it to get it done right, before you something happens and you find out later your piece of paper isn’t worth more than the paper it’s written on.
