If you have adobe Encore. It will compress it for you when you set up your project to DVD.

You can also export your video to 720p or 480 to make a smaller file. It doesn’t need to be ProRes, just an MOV if it’s going to iDVD.

I would cut it up into maybe 3 one hr. segments or 2, 1 1/2 hr. segments and put it onto two DVD’s.

  • Depends on the camera. My 7D shoots 11 min then I have to press record again to continue. The 5D Mk III shoots 29.99 minutes of recording (silly I know)

If you have the budget, just buy the Canon C100 and you won’t have these issues.

The camera is not a good recording device. Use an external recorder patched into the sound board.

  • What kind of work are you looking for?

The more your name is out there, the better. So you have to grind it out for a while to build your reputation, then the referrals will come.

  • If you state your budget, it’s easy to give recommendations.

You could buy a used EX 1 for around $1,500.

If you have the budget, I’d get rid of the DSLR’s and buy the Canon C100. An amazing camera with a higher price, worth the extra cash.

  • I would switch cards. I’ve lost data before and important video with bad cards. The sony SxS cards are expensive but iron clad. I had a battery to dead in the middle of a shoot. The SD card failed, but the SxS card still recovered fully with the restore.

No, no such feature as super slow mo with this camera. You can rent Sony’s FS100U cam which has this feature up to 640 fps. Or if you have the budget there is always the Phantom at 2000 fps

April 29, 2014 at 3:30 pm in reply to: mics for both channels in EX 1

Check your setting on your input. If you have one set to AUTO and the other to Manual, then maybe the Manual is turned down and the input is low.

If both channels are set equally and you have the same two mic’s, then they should sound the same. Even with different mic’s, there shouldn’t be a big difference unless your settings are different.
