The sequence is set to music so I really need to get the video back to the say duration as it was in the 25 timeline – could i just speed it up in Twixtor or something?

So doing this:

How do I add Pulldown? I have the clip as 23’98 and it looks fine but when I drop it into a 29.98 timeline the clip stays at the same length – not the same as the original 25 sequence.

I am having problems converting some footage from 25 to 29.97.

“and then adding pulldown to get your output to 29.97” – Can you explain this a bit more? How do I add a pulldown? Does compressor do this or is there something else I should be doing?

When you have time to post some links it would be great.

I realise that I can have good control over composition etc by using the FCP timeline but there are some shots that I want to get the best quality I can.

Ive had a search on the net but can’t find any guidance on the anti-aliasing / details levels in Compressor – apart from the fact they are useful when up-sizing.

Sorry! I have updated the previous thread – I really value yours, and others, help!!

That article on the Ken Stone site is most informative but for this project I would still like to try up-size the 4:3 footage to 16:9. Due to the success I have had down-sizing HDV to DV using compressor I am assuming that up-sizing using compressor would give better results than using the FCP timeline. My problem is that I have no decent way of checking this myself as my reference monitor setup (the MXO) does not display DV anamorphic clips well so I can’t simply try different settings in Compressor and see how they are.

So if anyone has an experience using the anti-aliasing and details levels in Compressor with regard to up-sizing footage it would be great!

It appears that the MXO unit has issues displaying DV anamorphic clips correctly. It’s rather strange because the mxo displays clips from a DV anamorphic camera correctly but doesn’t display clips that I have re-sized using Compressor.

It’s hard when you learning all this stuff and relying on something (the mxo unit) to check your footage! When doubts creep in you start to worry that something is horribly wrong and will cause serious problems later.

Sorry, I thought anamorphic meant 16:9.

I have some 4:3 DV footage that I want to expand to 16:9.

Hi Daniel,

How can it be something in my FCP / Matrox settings that is causing this?

If i use the exact same settings in Compressor to convert a SD & a HDV clip the converted SD clip displays fine but the converted HDV clip does not.

I feel that this proves that my FCP /Matrox setup can display clips fine and that I have something wrong in Compressor with regards to converting HDV clips.

I am probably wrong but just can’t see it.
