I have much better luck trimming with RedCine.
Resolve tends to stall trimming whenever it feels like it.

Enable highlight on the node you want to view, and it will show you the grade up to that node. Turn off highlight to see the result of the entire tree.
If you have a qualifier or a window on that node, add a node after it then highlight.

Is the track locked?
You can add a track, and just lay the VFX shots above?

Sounds like you may have not rendered the clips with unique identifiers? Resolve may have been overwriting clips with the same name each time that clip was utilized?

Not the greatest solution, but you can grab all stills, and Apply Source to your ColorTraced timeline.
Extra steps for sure, but the desired result.

You can adjust the output resolution from 1920×1080 to a custom resolution, so just input the dimensions you need.

There’s no way to access it the XML’s sizing data. You can’t adjust FCP opacity either.
