I use a hardware raid 1 two disk array, works great! Sans Digital makes it, haven’t had any problems ( I have two )

Two Things… make sure you get it from a place with lots of happy costumers, I got mine on ebay for $3600. Also, get the HVX200A!

I also had this happen to me. It seems to be the firewire cable. I tired 6 different cables and the only one that worked was the one that came with the hvx200! it was very weird…

USB was a major pain the in but, although it still only took me about 1.5x real time to transfer, and that was with FCP trascoding the footage (macbook pro 2.4ghz ).

I have a macbook pro and use an 34express to full size adapter. I can transfer a 32gb card is 16 minutes. For your situation I would say go for the panasonic card reader, you can load 5 cards into it a a time and from what I hear it is the fastest way to get data off the cards.

I always transfer straight to a raid system ( raid 1 ) and then at night copy onto a third hard drive.

    hope this helps!

You have to shoot in the 720/pn mode. Read the manual it talks about it in there…

Do you know of a good tutorial about how to use meta data for the HV200, I have tried to figure it out but always end up failing. No projects have come up where I need it, hinting the reason for not learning it, but I would like to learn it before I need it.

    Any help?

  • I suspect many of us are capable of fulfilling the requirements. At a quick look I didn’t see anything I lacked, I was commenting because the amount of qualifications required were substantial.

I would agree, I am in the process of archiving P2 footage and came up with LTO 4 as the best option. Still haven’t bought the tape drive yet. Anyone have any other ideas?

    Thanks-
