Hey Jason…Thanks so much for your response. I tried doing that, but it still looked really jerky; I’m thinking that the shutter speed was cranked up way too high and it’s giving it that strobe effect. I’ll keep messing with it, but thanks so much for your help…

Thanks for all the advice guys…The more I think abut it, the more I’m inclined to seek out some business classes elsewhere, as Tom said, and space them out a bit so I’m not going through 13 months of full time academic load.

Tom, you also mentioned that several universities are offering degrees based on the business side of the media world. What sort of classes or programs should I be looking for? Full Sail offered things like Media Publishing and Distribution, Product and Artist Management, and Internet Marketing, among several others. Are these a good place to start?

    Hey Guys…Thanks for the replies…

I suspected that my headphones aren’t up snuff; they’re the Sony MDR-V150 and I’m plugging them directly into the camera’s stereo jack. I’m kind of a one man band, so a sound guy isn’t really in the cards.

I’m capturing via firewire and my hunch is that the noise came into play during shooting, but I wasn’t able to hear it.

    Thanks again guys…

I use a 15″ with less impressive stats (RAM, Hard Drive) and it works fine for me. I use a tricked out Mac Pro at work, and of course, it’s better, but my MBP works great. If I couldn’t have both a desktop and a laptop, I’d go with the MBP for sure. I would stick to a 15″ if I were you, though. The 17″ is HUGE and kind of takes away from the mobility standpoint. The only reason I would say get the 17″ is if you really want to use Color.

Cool…Thanks for the help guys. I contacted the hotel and they are going to have a mixer with XLR outputs that I can run into the camera, then mic the speakers as a backup as Vince suggested.

I have a similar problem with the preview window being disabled while I capture from my Optura. I just close FCP, shut down the machine, unplug the power cable and wait about ten seconds. Then I reconnect everything, start back up and try again. It always works fine then. It might be something between FCP and Canon cameras…Can’t explain it, but it works for me…
