Note, if you have a P timeline, and export to I, all will look (and be) P, but the container is I. Nothing will change to the footage. This is totally acceptable! (Remember, in the old days all commercials were shot on 35 mm.)

Now if your cam originals are P, but your timeline is I, only stuff like moving graphics are different. (And smoother, better IMHO.)
This is also totally acceptable.

So, it’s not that hard. If it looks good, it is good.

I seem to have missed this post.
No worries about the playback. They will take care of it.
Do the panning yourself for your own QC, and be happy 🙂

So, all is well. (In the channel department )
Now I want to know who gave you these specs. Could you share the name, or even better, send me the documents?

MpegII 50 Mbit with two discrete channels is not strange, but you cannot call it XDcam, as that has 8 discrete channels (in your case, 3-8 should be silent.)
(I’m a developer who is working on QC for commercials for a huge amount of broadcasters, including the big names.)

Probably 422 vs 420
NTSC has 480 and 486 for DV / Non dV, but that does not exists in PAL luckily.

what Jeremy means, if it’s XDcam or alike, it’s normal behaviour and up to the playback system how to interpret the channels.

You do so by setting your markpoints at the correct position.
Note and warning, do NOT set them at the wrong position, as this does not give you the desired result.

Old ones can get noisy, but then it has to be really old.
Now, since a connector is 1.50 bucks, and very good cable 1 buck per meter, and soldering a cable takes 15 minutes if you’re unexperienced, why not make a new one to test?
