    thanx alot,
but, as i said, it only happened on the viewer window.
once in the timeline, the beep was gone (!)
even in the viewer, when i clicked the audio tabs, there were no beeps written, but sounded.
the footage is from a sony camcorder and is ok.
i have edited already, but i wonder where they come from.

    thank you so much

hi again, and thanx a lot, Tom
for i don’t know what reason, i had a “canon dv using pal” set on the capture settings. i had never used a canon device, so i changed that, and after shuting everything down and not restarting but really closing everything down and opening back again, and recapturing the media, it is all syncronized now!!!!!!!
thanks so much for your help.
i always have problems that get solved by doing nothing and that makes me crazy about final cut.
it is so frustrating. i love editing but gets me down so often.
i hope i don’t bother you for awhile and
my best wishes for the new year,
    bombonia

    first is first:
thank you so much for getting back so soon.
even more at this time of the year when most of the people don’t understand that some others may prefer doing some editing instead of gathering lovely relatives

“What’s the audio sampling rate on the tape? It needs to be 16-bit to match your settings. YES, IT IS 16-BIT

Are there breaks in the video? NOPE

What camera are you using and how is connected to the PowerBook? I’M USING A SONY HC 40E Directly or is there another drive? DIRECTLY THROUGH A FIREWIRE CORD

Is sync adjust turned on? YES, OVER 5 MIN.
my project is 5 min long or so. should i change that time in the preferrences?

    thanks again,

Hi Tom, thanx for your quick response and merry xmas.
yes you’re right, first is first:
“Let’s start with what application are you using.
Final cut pro 3 on a g3power book

What format are you working in?
i’m working in mini dv pal

    What’s the material?
    the same, mini dv pal

How did you get it into your computer?
through a firewire protocol from my video camera, also pal

What are the settings you’re using for capture and for your editing?”
for capturing i’m using dv pal 48 khz and the external video on firewire pal (720×576)
for editing i turn the external video to none, and then i get it out of sync

    all the best,
    bombonia
