I recently tried installing Sony Vegas 7.0c on Windows Vista RTM Build 6000 [x64 version], and had unsuccessfully done so, being that there is a compatibility issue in regards to the SQL Server software that installs along with Vegas.
There was an option to install the SQL software anyways, but I chose not to as I didn’t want to attempt to install incompatible software. The Vegas software completed the install after I chose not to install this incompatible SQL software, but will not initialize and crashes upon start up, possibly because it is missing this SQL Server software.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Update: I have discovered that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Evaluation Edition [https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6931fa7f-c094-49a2-a050-2d07993566ec&displaylang=en] does in fact run on Windows Vista, although it does apparently have issues in regards to User access or something.
I might try installing this tonight and then re-installing Sony Vegas to see if this will correct the problem I am experiencing. I will update on this forum to let know how this pans out 🙂
Please let me know if there is anything that can be done to get Vegas 7.0c to run properly on Windows Vista x64.
Thanks!
