Has there been any reports about Vegas 7 problems on the new Windows vista? I bought a new mac laptop and I want to install Vista.

I have heard people run on Vista, but I don’t think it is a good idea to move to Vista yet, considering it is essentially 1.0 software, with all of the problems that will give you. Just my not so humble opinion.

I’m running Vegas on Windows 64bit without problem.

I don’t think you can compare running it on Vista and running it on 64 bit Windows. Vista contains a lot of new stuff, particularly in the video area, and you may run into subtle problems. I’d characterize Vista as version 1.0, and I’d recommend waiting until the inevitable kinks have been ironed out.

I was thinking the same thing. I was just wondering if anyone had tried yet.

    Thanks,

I recently tried installing Sony Vegas 7.0c on Windows Vista RTM Build 6000 [x64 version], and had unsuccessfully done so, being that there is a compatibility issue in regards to the SQL Server software that installs along with Vegas.

There was an option to install the SQL software anyways, but I chose not to as I didn’t want to attempt to install incompatible software. The Vegas software completed the install after I chose not to install this incompatible SQL software, but will not initialize and crashes upon start up, possibly because it is missing this SQL Server software.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Update: I have discovered that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Evaluation Edition [https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6931fa7f-c094-49a2-a050-2d07993566ec&displaylang=en] does in fact run on Windows Vista, although it does apparently have issues in regards to User access or something.

I might try installing this tonight and then re-installing Sony Vegas to see if this will correct the problem I am experiencing. I will update on this forum to let know how this pans out 🙂

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done to get Vegas 7.0c to run properly on Windows Vista x64.

    Thanks!

The only problem I’ve found (and it will have to be fixed) is that when extending a selection by holding down [shift], you lose control of your mouse. The sucker goes wild and heads for the upper left hand corner of the screen. Occurs on two different system. Does not occur with the diagnostic configuration, but just adding back all of the regular Microsoft services is enough to re-expose the bug.

    Doest this happen to you?
