not sure if this helps..drag your mts files into toast.
Hit the record button, there you will have choices.
I went with AIC, check your size settings etc. and export.
Import your exported files int fcp. If your sequence settings are correct, you should be able to work away…no red line or rendering needed.also make sure you are in convert in toast.
