Mic level is fine. You can go into the cam menu to set the audio input trim to match the receiver output.

Many CD players and DVD players will play MP3 and wav files. If you are having trouble with playback, use a program like Nero to burn an audio CD not a data CD. https://www.nero.com/eng/show-tutorial.php?tut=NzI=

Use Sony Clip Browser. Open the program, click on tool, edit, then under copy, select preform CRC and choose a target folder for the files. Then in the explorer window, right click a clip and select copy all (Ctrl+Shift+C).

When I am doing a project for DVD, I shoot 720p. The down converted image looks a bit more pleasing to me. I have shot 1080 before for DVD, but found the down converted picture had aliasing in fine detail areas. I think that may have been a function of rendering to MPEG2 directly from the timeline in Sony Vegas Pro using MainConcept. I’m sure some dedicated encoders would have done a better job with 1080. That would require an additional render for me. Do some testing with various formats and see what you like. The rescaling of HD to SD causes problems.

Sony gave me conflicting info about updating, but the last Sony tech I spoke to on the phone said that if your version is below 1.13 you need to send it in for the update (it is done in stages). I sent mine to Macie Video and they did three versions to get it to the current one (1.26). It cost $190.50 plus shipping. If you are trying to go directly from 1.05 to 1.26 you are taking a pretty big risk.

You are right Ted. Hi Def will show more focus issues than SD. I am not at all familiar with your camcorder. Why would the iris change, if you are in full manual mode? Some camcorders will let you set how quickly the auto iris responds. That can be quite helpful.

Hello Ted. Don gave you a much better explanation about auto focus.
Since you are shooting sports, the situation is compounded because you will more than likely be zoomed in at certain points and that will reduce depth of field and make focus more critical. I will use auto focus once in blue moon when I have to pan, zoom, ride iris and focus at the same time. That is when I might use auto iris too, but I try not to use either “auto.” Good luck!Bob
