    thanx

Its the jello cam effect, its on tilts as well as when there is some movement in the frame, X or Y.

(reminds me of Waynes World dream sequence. “Dududududu dudududu”)

    thanx for responding!

Sorry about any confusion. To summarize more concisely, the files are exhibiting the artifacts before i even get them into final cut. The problem lies with the way the files were converted from camera original media, in this case SxS cards, to HDV 60i.

Resizing has nothing to do with de-interlacing.
(although vertical resizing as if the files were progressive BEFORE interlacing causes major trouble)

Yes I believe that is what happened! I was assuming it was de-interlacing. (I should have merely said conversion, as I do not know how the originals were shot. My bad!)

    Hi

    great thread

no matter how smart a person thinks they are, or what they think they know, they need to remember one thing:

“Be nice to everyone on the way up, cuz you’ll see em again on the way down!”

    hope this helps

    Hi Michael

    https://www.talino.org/blog/using-timecode-in-excel/

I am going to try this later to-day, as i am always using excel to sift and sort stuff, as well as convert logs and edls from older systems to FCP

  • Hi Drew

It sounds like you have stuff shot at 120 fps, and you want to play it at 120 fps, but in a 23.98 sequence soooo in essence you want to drop out the frames that make it 120 fps but not change the time span…. when you drop the clips into a 24 fps seq, the speed will drop, lesee 120/24=5 so 1/5 of its rate or 20% so you need to speed it up the inverse which is 5 times or 500 percent. (this calculation is based on nice round numbers, the actual figures should be based on the real values)

you will invariably get the “private ryan” look. to get around that you need to do some frame blending and/or motion blur, which will help it look smeary

    hope this helps
