    Unfortunately you can’t put copy protection on a DVD-R. Copy protection is only possible if the disc is replicated, as the CSS and/or Macrovision copy protection is done by the replicator. When you author a disc with CSS or Macro, it doesn’t actually add the copy protection, it just adds flags to let the replicator know to add it.

  • Mojo does, in fact, support Component I/O, you just need to get Avid’s $75 breakout cable, or build your own.

    It’s best not to upgrade mid-project, unless your system really isn’t working. It’s just too big of a risk.

    You might want to export to Quicktime in the meantime and use Microsoft’s free Windows Media Encoder to create your Windows Media files from the QT exports. Then do your upgrade once things get slower and you can take the time to troubleshoot should anything go awry.
