We use San Disk Extreme III UDMA 8GB only or 4GB CF cards on a Canon 5D mark II, the 7 may be different ? and a recovery disk came with the CF card. Or see their web site for a free download, you realise of course that the camera will stop after 12 minutes and you must restart and it will run for another 12 minutes (approx)and stop again depending on the size of your card

Hi Brian,
Either way , we go to a TV via blu-ray and tape HDMI now, are there any alternatives ?
But, do you know anything about Canon’s pixel shift technology and how do you get an edited project from a HDD camcorder direct to a TV ? Or can you Export direct into Memory CF or SD card in a XH -A1 Camcorder ?

Sounds like a computer not capable of handling codec from say a Canon 5 D mark II like h.264 mov file high definition 1920 x 1080 and or avchd. In other words underpowered to handle the editing, we have a 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 which does not like the former, try changing the file to something more friendly like Microsoft avi, un compressed and/or use the Adobe Media Encoder.

Check to see that the computer has the ADOBE Specifications to handle CS3 and or codecs. It does not look correct ?

Well according to Brian it is no longer available on Premiere Elements 8, it is on 4. In 4 you just click on to it(right hand upper right) and window opens to burn to DVD or Blu-ray. Click on to to either and select the compression rate , either H.264 or mpeg-2.

If not, save timeline to file and import into your generic DVD or blu-ray burner >If you have i7 Windows Professional the burn to DVD option should be easily accessed.

Iam agreeing with you , it is that the numbers 1920 x 1080 are correct but, either way I personally cannot see any difference between 1440 x 1080 which is the standard HDV recorded from the Canon XL H1,XH G1 the XH A1 and the HV20/30/40 to 1920 x 1080i of a High Definition Monitor ? Nor in many cases the 1920 x 1080i out put from the Canon 5D mark II via HDMI or after being Exported from Premiere Pro on tape or blu-ray at 1440 x 1080 @25mbps or 38.5 mbps in H.264 or mpeg-2.

Can’t help with DSP, but,the Canon High End camcorders do record at 1920 x 1080p and saves PAL at 1440 x 1080i which is the High Definition standard . We use a Canon HV20 which does that and produces an anamorphic 1920 x 1080 i video, so I am advised.We use a Canon 5D Mark II which records at 1920 x 1080 p and when viewed on a Sony Bravia HD Tv Full HD, (if you can see any difference), I can’t.

The edited output from Premiere Pro is the same as using a HDMI cable when using Pro HD tape or Blu-ray recorded at H.264 compression and or mpeg-2 HDV.My impression is Tape has a slight edge ?

Ps . You do not convert the pixels, it is automatically done in camera . The anamorphic widescreen 16:9 effect is un- noticable and automatic,Premiere Pro produces a Cineform avi HDV file ; the High Definiton video over the past 5 years are all broadcast quality.
