Thanks for the dvinfo suggestion. The Facebook page looks pretty useless, unless I’m on the wrong one.

The Sony page reappeared this week, and then disappeared again. VERY odd.

    Great thread, people.

I have a tendency to stick with what I know: film on a Steenbeck, then D/Vision Pro/Edit, and currently FCP7.

For me, moving to a new NLE is like entering a marriage. You have to “take the plunge,” commit to the new method, and accept that things will be new, great, and sometimes scary-as-hell. The main thing is DON’T GO BACK. (To be honest, marriage-marriage was easy by comparison.)

I have, so far, only been “dating” Resolve, mainly due to performance issues. It always seems to require a more powerful computer than whatever I have. I could make that happen today, with a desktop machine. But I need Resolve to run, and run well, on a laptop, preferably a Mac. When that happens, I’ll buy that laptop, install Resolve Version Whatever, and… get married.

Thanks for the illuminating thread. My only contribution is a question: Do you think Blackmagic has the staying power to take Resolve to the point where it is a standard?

That is my experience as well, at HQ1920/30P. Other HQ settings change the capacity very little if at all, but if you record in SP as opposed to HQ, you’ll get more recording time.

From another forum I learn that the Sony FS7 forum has been taken down by Sony, to be replaced. But there is no information about how to find this new forum, or when it will be available.

Didn’t a Sony representative once participate in this forum? If someone from Sony is here… please let us know!

    Thanks.

Marc, I haven’t observed this. I’d suggest trying to isolate the problem: use different mic’s, perhaps hardwired dynamic mics in case there is a wireless issue.

Please let us know what you find.

    Thanks.

    Hello Blaise,

That link does not work, and I’ve not been able to find the FS7 forum independently. Do you have a new link, or is this a temporary glitch?

    Thanks.

Thank you very much for helping with this confusing issue.

Now for the ibuprofren bottle…. I think Joseph is right about this “world of hurt.”

    Fantastic. Thanks Ricardo.

By “embedded” I assume that Blackmagic means closed caption?

On YouTube, when I click “CC” on BM’s video, I get closed captions which must have been generated by some automatic program, perhaps by YouTube. They are pretty inaccurate. Does that mean that BM failed to provide a closed-caption video to YouTube? Or does YouTube provide its own automatic CC when you click on its CC button?

Michael Corleone to Carlo (paraphrase): “Admit what you did. Don’t be afraid…. C’mon, do you think I’d make my sister a widow?”
CUT TO: Carlo getting strangled in car.

OTOH, there are probably examples of happy in-laws entering the family business. Looking forward to seeing your script – it’s got drama baked-in!
