Thanks for the suggestion, but as soon as I save the clip in STP, I’m returned to FCP, and the eternally spinning wheel.

I’ve been trying this many ways now. Often STP gives me an immediate error message as it opens:
“Failure occurred when preparing the device (null).” And sometimes that message does not appear, although I am taking the exact same steps.

In FCP, I’ve tried “open in editor” and “send audio file as project,” same results.

I posted in the AJA Kona forum, but no answers there. I’m surprised that I haven’t heard from somebody in FCP with an LHe card who’s using STP successfully. The round-tripping for sophisticated audio fixes is a pretty great idea, so I am assuming that other people are doing this with no problems.

What kind, Walter? If I recall, they have a huge range of products, including a very expensive unit which reconstitutes the power from AC-DC-AC and eats up lots of energy in the process.

I’ve been fighting a ground loop here and have been looking at various strategies.

Anybody else experiencing some weirdness with the MacPro and the Bella keyboard?

I have the Shuttle Keyboard (5102), and sometimes I can inch through a clip with the shuttle wheel, and sometimes it doesn’t seem to work at all. Is it me or the new Beta driver from Bella?

I’m afraid you’re right.

It’s actually a fascinating situation. People are ripping off brand-new features and selling them on the street to considerable profit, and nothing seems to happen to them. But filming a school play makes you a criminal and the potential object of lawsuits.

Right now, the public is accepting the tyranny and inconsistency of intellectual property laws. Maybe Congress won’t do anything until and unless Disney starts bankrupting the Uncle Charlies who tape the school plays, and the public wakes up.

Thank you all. I think I understand a little better why I couldn’t get Paste Attributes to work, but would appreciate confirmation.

1. I was attempting to Paste Attributes to clips in the Browser. I am guessing this is not possible. While “Paste Attributes” was available as a menu option, when I tried to PA onto clips in the Browser, the PA window did not appear, and no attributes were pasted.

2. My inability to Paste Attributes may be due to the way I structured my project, as a sequence of sequences. (The project consists of three basic TV spots, each of which is customized with various different supers, and different background music. I did the customization in After Effects, laid the AE video over the original video, then dragged that sequence into another timeline.) Video filters seem to be applicable only to clips.

3. Editing a Sequence into another Sequences vs. Nesting Sequences. What’s the difference? When do you do one, vs. the other?

I tried nesting, as suggested by Jerry and David, but I got an error regarding Audio. I have not researched Nesting, so I don’t deserve an answer from you busy folks (yet), but if you know a good resource on this, I would appreciate it.

Thank you so much for your kind assistance. I wound up adjusting each of about 100 clips one by one, just to get through the job. But I definitely want to learn how to avoid this in future.

The reason I needed to do this in the first place is that in After Effects I over-enhanced the chroma on my clips. They look fine in component, but when I played back the Beta tape in composite they looked too saturated, so I simply wanted to back off the Saturation in the Color Correction filter. Next time I will do the color correction in FCP!

Is the Kona Control panel set to the desired inputs? Can you test the output cable from the 2800 with some other device?
