FROM the deck and NOT the tape. The tape plays glitch free on all four decks when you listen straight out of monitor, but as soon as it goes through firewire and into “log and Capture” the recorderd waveforms have visual dropouts. I didn’t have one dropout using the DSR-25 though – same tape.

  • Just make the line in photoshop as an overlay on the map (the entire journey) Then make it an alpha channel, by selecting it and going to the channels tab and clicking the “make alpha channel” button in the bottom of the pane.Save as a .tif or.tga. Bring it into FCP and use the crop tool under the motion tab to give the traveling/moving line effect. Is this the type of thing you are looking for. If not explain a little more of what you are trying to accomplish.

Dsr-11 also dropped frames of audio, but much less frequent. Could this be an error correction thing that needs to be addressed. The newest of the decks (DSR-25) had no problems, then slightly older (our dsr-11) had some glitches, and finally our oldest deck (dsr-20’s) full of dropouts. This sucks!!

Okay so the DSR25 wound up working. Anyone know why I had problems with 2 DSR-20’s since the upgrade? Huh? Compatibility issues?

  • I had a similar problem on 4.5 and it drove me nuts. My audio didn’t completely dropout though, the levels went WAY down. I tried everything. Dumping prefs, Mixing down audio (did you try this? – might do the trick), and re importing the sound file. Nothing worked. I finally spliced in the file right where it had been dropping, so I had two separate files matched up (the second one had no keyframes or anything) and it finally worked. Don’t know if this helped or not, but I hope you got some food.

I just upgraded to FCP5 and am experiencing audio dropouts on CAPTURE and can’t figure it out. I posted a thread just now about it. Why can’t this expensive $@#^ just work the way it is supposed to – ARRGHHH!
