The Panasonic web site has the P2 4Gig card at $1799. 4 gig not 8 gig. I have read here several times much cheaper prices on all the P2 cards, a quick visit to the Panasonic web site proves those numbers wrong, unless we are to think that Panasonic is wrong.

The new 200camera is going to be sold for $10,000 with 2 8 gig P2 cards, The list price at the Panasonic web site for the camera is $6000. So, the 8 gig cards each cost $2000 when bought with the camera. This deal has been presented as a good deal because the P2 cards are being sold a a deep discoiunt when bought with the camera. So $2,000 is a price only offered with the camera, they cost more without.

I dont remember where I read $3,400 per 8 gig P2 card but I think it was here or at the Panasonic web site, I cant find this product listed there anymore though.

Hitachi this week announced the introduction (July 05) of a new 1 inch hard drive with motion detection to save the drive if it falls. It is an 8 gig drive and it is said that the drive will be found in new cell phones like Motorola

All that sounds good to me. You might also experiment a little.

Go to those frames with the problem and see if other parmeters are keyframed like feathering etc.
I would also try to apply that matte to another clip and see how it works there. If it works i would reinsert the same clip you are working with that does not work back into the space it now takes up. If you can start a frame or so sooner or later, then put the matte effect back into the original shot.

Its worth testing to simply see if there are ways of solving the problem without the start stop deal, though, I restart at the drop of a hat.

Is this an adapter that actually squeezes the image? if this is so how and under what circumstances do you unsquezz it. I am thinking cinema anamorphic…

Anamorphic on a video camera seems like a bad idea, when you unsquezz your just going to stretch not just the image but the native format of the frame, In other words your going to supercharge the inherent image problems of video like noise which otherwise would be too little to notice on a well exposed non squezzed shot.

You could just put the first shot on an upper video track and leave the next shot on a lower video track, and just put the dissolve on the end of the top clip. Of course if there is not enough incoming media the dissolve will snap off for an excellent example of really bad unprofessional work.

    I agree completely.

Keep in mind that the film you are talking about, this work print, is not only what we call a one lite, with minimal color timing it is also printed on work print stock which is notoriously cheep stock. It is often run through the lab (developing baths) quickly and printed on high speed printers all conspiring to make a low quality result.

Interestingly this work print is what DPs use to see if their visual plan is working.
