Any way to override?
Posted by Shakespeare on August 26, 2005 at 11:11 pmI would like to add an additive dissolve….
However, it keeps giving me the error message there is insufficent media.. Is there anyway to override this and add the dissolve anyway, or am I just hooped?
Thanx in advance.

August 27, 2005 at 2:16 amYou have to have enough unused media to perform a transition… either capture more of each clip or delete some of each side until you have half of what the duration of the transition is unused in the timeline…

August 27, 2005 at 4:03 amYou could just put the first shot on an upper video track and leave the next shot on a lower video track, and just put the dissolve on the end of the top clip. Of course if there is not enough incoming media the dissolve will snap off for an excellent example of really bad unprofessional work.

thanx for the reply’s guys, but it looks like im hooped. Bulb’s idea sounds like it might work, but “an excellent example of really bad unprofessional work” isnt quite the look im going for 😛
As for Mr. Hofmans post, that makes sense to me. Problem is, I am trying to work with clips that are being captured from an already complete source to make a music video. The clip I have was already too short, I had to “fit to fill” it to the sequence of the song as is, so capturing more of it isnt an option. It was too short to begin with.
As always, thanx for the insight folks… guess this time Im just up the river.

August 27, 2005 at 1:41 pmYou cuold get more material by slowing one or both clips down a bit, or add a freeze frame, or…

August 28, 2005 at 8:23 pmwhat you do is slow down a bit the head or tail (whichever end we’re talking about). your goal is to get as much of the slow stuff in the dissolve itself. how slow? experiment.
