Straight component output to the multibridge, using the official cable for both systems.

I forgot to add that I get the exact same video quality with the PS3 720p/1080i output (using RR7), so it’s not a Xbox 360 issue.

I thought the PS3 only outputted footage via HDMI with HDCP?
Interesting then, I guess I can buy an Intensity card 😀Anyone knows if the intensite and the multibridge will work together well?

Hi!
I used this shot as a comparison sample because some sites in the US actually get almost the same quality with their videos. I don’t know what hardware they are using, but it’s very very close to how a framebuffer capture looks like.
I’ve done some more testing in the last few days, and I tried switching my 360 to 1080i to see what it would look like. To my surprise, 720p upscaled to 1080i by the 360, captured by the multibridge then deinterlaced and resized to 1280×720 looks *much* better than a straight 720p capture. Take a look:

1080i: https://images.xboxyde.com/misc/testcapture/2.png
No chroma bleed, much more precise capture overall. It looks like capturing in 720p with the Blackmagic Multibridge Express isn’t such a good idea. With the 360 I can output 1080i all the time so I guess I can live with this, but some PS3 games are stuck to 720p max.As for trying to switch with another unit, I didn’t try it but I’ve seen other captures done by other companies with the same kind of hardware, and it looked the same.

Hi!
I use a component switch to output the image to both my HDTV (native 720p DLP) and the multibridge. The image is perfectly sharp on the TV, not on the PC. Of course I’ve also tried hooking up the game console directly to the PC, with the same result.
I’ve seen the same result from other users capturing from the same devices as me, so to me it’s either the multibridge/decklink that doesn’t get a perfectly sharp image (by design maybe, so it looks more “video”), or there is no way to get a better image from a component input but some american site get perfectly sharp captures so I don’t know what to think. I thought they were using VGA, but they also get the same quality with the PS3 that doesn’t have VGA outputs.I really don’t know what to think anymore. I’d like to buy a card from some other manufacturer, but if I get the same result then I’ve lost $1500 :/

I’m capturing directly from the component outputs of both consoles into the multibridge, using the uncompressed 4:2:2 codec.

That’s not really the best image to show what’s wrong with the capture I guess.
Maybe this one will show the problem better:

Look at how the font looks soft. It should be very sharp but it’s all fuzzy. Same with the formation thing. I guess I want a more computer like image instead of a video like one, or something like that.
I record this from Xbox 360 and PS3 game consoles, so using such utilities isn’t an option 😉
