[mark670] “HEY, ive just bought premier pro 1.5. imported footage from dvd .avi formart.”

avi is a generic term that covers a multitude of formats. DVD video is Mpeg2 which v1.5 has problems with unless you purchase a codec to use with Ppro. see https://www.mainconcept.com

also if have a question that is not a part of the current thread, start a new one, don’t hijack

I should have thought about this before, Ppro is exporting a DS DV type II, Procoder is probably making a DS DV type I and if you use the camcorder capture in Pyramix/vt it is probably capturing to DS DV Type I that maybe the difference

The MSDV.avi output through Export->Movie is supposed to be a direct show format and should work in the DS player, what you could do, there is a utility that can be downloaded called gspot that might be able to tell you the difference between Procoder and Ppro’s DV video.

Nero Vision exports mpeg2, so in essense you are taking highly compressed video, recompressing it and then again when you export from Ppro, what you need to do is convert the original footage to DVavi, edit, then export to DVD or mpeg2 for DVD

[Dennis] “export true DV25 files out of Primiere pro”
    The MSDV setting is DV25.

[Dennis] “to play out of a small program (Virtual Transport) via firewire to sync to do Audio Post.”
Are you trying to export directly out of Ppro over VT to a second computer? or making a file and transfering it?

[alkaye] “I do have it set to export..but Im trying to see it while I edit…not exporting”

You should haveDV 29.97 selected in both external device boxes in the playback settings, If you are sending video out of a computer for whatever purpose its called exporting

[alkaye] “i’m sorry..how would I know if it still “sees” the device?”
Open My Computer and see if you deck is listed under “Scanner and Cameras”
If its there, Open Ppro, when your project is loaded hit F5 which brings up the Capture window, Select the Settings tab, In the Device Control box at the bottom DV/HDV Device Control should be in the Device: Window, then select Options, if the settings are correct you should see online next to the Check status box.

Have you checked the Playback Settings in the Project-> General window to see if you still have export to DV device selected and it still sees the device.
