You output your master to tape and then take it to someone who has a eaption encoder and captioning software. When the captioning project is completed in the software, you make a dub through the caption encoder, which inserts the line 21 data stream. No edit system has this kind of function built in.

Steve,
If you are interested in doing work in New York City, we have our own replication factory, plus we are set up to deal with burning & color thermal printing large quantities of DVD-R with fast turnaround. For more information, you can contact andres@usastudios.tv to discuss your specific requirements.

After MPEG-2 encoding, your picture probably won’t fill up even 1/4 GB.

Are you looking for a molding/stamping/sputtering machine (replication), or a machine to copy DVD-R discs (duplication)?
What quantity of discs would you like to duplicate in 15-20 days?

Why not create a “Do Not Delete” project with the media elements that need to be retained and shared among other projects. Then you don’t need to monkey around with the links. Does this not serve your purpose?

When correctly prepared artwork is seen on a video screen, it will appear the same as what you designed before you resized the artwork (the video screen will match the 768×576 pixel version). This is particularly noticeable if your artwork contains any circles, which become ovals if the artwork is not handled correctly. All of this happens because the pixels end up as being not square when displayed on a video monitor, due to the physical height of the scan lines. The pixels are wider than they are high in PAL and higher than they are wide in NTSC displays.

Not possible until Xpress Pro HD 5.5 is released. Even if your 1200A has the downconverter board, you cannot downconvert HD tape to the Firewire port. So you would need to capture and edit HD media.

September 19, 2005 at 5:21 pm in reply to: On-Line Media — Project Association…How do I change the association?File -> Open, navigate to the bin in another project with the material you want, hit Enter. The bin from the other project now is open in your current project and you can use the clips inside as you would any clip in your current project.

We don’t use this workflow, but I believe the officially sanctioned method is to export a Quictime reference to Sorenson Squeeze and do your encoding in that application.

Design at 768×576 and then resize to 720×576 without constraining proportions. But if you are designing menus for a DVD that someone else will author, always touch base with them on specs first, just to make sure that what you are doing works with the software they use.
