Seems to run just fine on my win7 64. I sure hope this isn’t true as I have no intention to ever update my Win OS above Win 7-64, barring some significant performance improvements in a new Win OS. I have 3 PC’s running Win 7-64. Updating each one to Win 8 or 10 is just…well, not gonna happen.

edit: I just received an email from BMD customer support, re: Win 7. While they did not test Resolve v12.0 on win 7, they fully expect it will work.

  • Here’s a critical point to think about. Some LUTS are “extended” meaning they convert the entire color range, from 0 to 255. However, most LUTs are limited to REC709 16-235. If this is the case, any information below 16 and above 235 has been clipped. This would be non-recoverable and you will have lost detail in the super whites and super black. I would hope that however you deconvolve the footage in post, you are aware to use an extended LUT.

  • It is possible to reverse the color correction by applying an inverse LUT. However, as noted, the DR is irreversible. That cannot be undone. Subsequent color correction will not perform as efficiently as it would have with an original, unmodified file.

XML files are metadata files, they’re not video files.

  • I’ve tried every which way but Sunday to Consolidate or write Same as Source with ProRes on windows7 pro. Never have been able to get it to work…:(

  • The MXF files out of the FS7 are different from the MXF files that MC writes to the Program Files folder. Sony MXF is called OP1a, which is an audio-video interleaved essence. The Avid MXF is op-atom, audio and video are separated. In order to AMA link or import Sony MXF into MC, you need to install the Sony MXF plugin, available at the Sony software website. Alternatively, you can convert the OP1a files to Avid OP1 with Resolve. Then copy the converted files into your Avid MXF folder.

  • The only application I’m aware of is the Calibrated{Q} playback codec. And this will only allow .mxf (OP1) files to playback. MXF is only a wrapper, like MOV. Almost any format can be contained within MXF. Avid’s format is OP1. To be able to use OP1, it has to be re-wrapped as OP1a, which interleaves the audio files with the video to produce a single file.

Yes, a QTRef file will work in TmpGenc. It will also work in Sorenson Squeeze, which is the Avid preferred application for transcoding any QTref file.
