sorry, as this may be better addressed in another post, but for some reason this morning the blacks the colors in my Motion app seem to be at about 15% or so, appearing much more milky. I only just upgraded to Motion 4.

    Have I moved a setting somewhere? You’re very kind…

Just bumped up against this one myself. My ‘Preview’ app and Photoshop both open them with the correct orientation, but DVDSP insists on laying them on the side. Makes me crazy. Anyone have an answer? It’s too late for this project, but a solution (other than opening EVERY vertically-oriented image and cropping) would be fabulous.

Here’s a peek at what I’m up to. Clever :30 sec spot. I want to roll six seconds of the front view, with supers, logos floating in front. I swoop around with the camera to reveal the back of the video, with a duplicate of the front pasted to it, continuing to deliver the riveting message. Those supers, logos, etc. are floating in front (back?) of this image as well, then at the close the camera swoops back around for the tag. One can see in the screen capture the see-through reverse supers behind (in front of?) the video.

No comments on the concept please. (just kidding). Thanks for your interest!

May be just that. Make sure you’re exporting the proper field order, and that your imports to FCP are also set to lower field first.

    That’s a start, anyway…

Not sure I follow… the graphics ARE in front of the video in Z space, as mentioned in my 1st post:

“floating a little (like 20) in front of the 0 degrees Z depth of the video”

As I move my camera around, the graphics mentioned do float in front of the video, residing at 0.0.0 in space.

Is that what you mean? When I rotate all the way around, I see the backside of the video, and the graphics floating on the other side of the video. Video channel is at 100% so I assumed that it would block out the graphics on the other side.

I guess that’s why we’re able to ’round-trip’ so easily between Motion and FCP.

December 29, 2008 at 10:49 pm in reply to: BCC 5.0.3/Avid MC 3.1 upgrade?

The Avid upgrade combined with the BCC upgrade is steep… unless demonstrable additional capability can be utilized. Perhaps I’m not paying attention to the PR, but what does my money buy, exactly? As I mentioned, plugins of mine of the 4.2.2 BCC still have issues that are not rectified.
