Have completely no idea how to make the control track work. I put the cursor over each one and the only thing that does something is the slide. It will go from 0 to 100 percent.
There is no other tools that will resize the logo. So I went back into crop/pan and made the logo smaller again.
Then I placed it on the video track and played around with each icon on the place you mentioned. Nothing changed accept you can make the track bigger or smaller.
The hard part is that you are very advanced and I am just beginning so even referring to go here or there is difficult because I go into the help section to learn where the tools can be found.
I really need a step by step instructions because I’m confident that the way you describe it works but I can’t do things without knowing to left or right click onto something or what each thing is called.

I can resize it to what I need but the way I need to move it is by grabbing a side of the box in the crop/event. If I close the box to make it smaller then the logo gets bigger.
The way I move it to the lower part of the screen is by grabbing the top line of the box and move it up. By doing this the logo moves down.
Now I want to move the logo to the right so it will be at the bottom right hand side of the screen.
I grab the side of the box and it moves it from the center of the screen and then the logo disappears.
I know that there must be a way to simply size it the right size then grab the logo and place it to the bottom right hand side of the screen. This must be done in the crop/event tool but I can not click on the logo and make it move.
Very difficult to explain through messaging.
Do you have a simple step by step instruction such as,
Import logo onto the top video line.
Click on the event/crop icon
With event/crop window open move ?? to re-size logo.
Once re-sized, ?? click on the logo inside the event/crop window.
Move the logo to the location you want.
Click on red X at top right side of event/crop window to exit window.
Logo now should be placed in the location you selected when working in the event/crop window.
If you want logo to remain on video from start to finish you drag logo to the right to increase its time.
You can also apply fade in and out so the logo will slowing appear and at the end you can fade out so it slowing disappears.

Hello John,
I have been trying different ways of moving around the logo to place it on the bottom right hand side of the screen.
I am using the pan and crop tool and when I move the logo to the right or down to low it starts to hide under the video footage.
I noticed that if I increase the size of the square in the pan tool then it will not disappear.
I have not got it very close to the right hand side towards the bottom. I try to click on the logo while it event/pan thinking it will just go where I want it to if I grabbed it and move it. It doesn’t allow me to do that.
Anything that I should know about why the crop/event part is difficult to move around images?

Hi John, understand now about the order of putting things first, second, etc.. It’s great to have this forum on Vegas Pro 8. I know it must be able to do a lot of things and the help part of it doesn’t seem to be very helpful in finding exactly what I want to do.
Also, the terminology when entering questions for it to search doesn’t match to what we called things in analog editing.
There are lots of things to learn about Vegas Pro 8 and having the COW forum is the next best thing to having a personal instructor.

John, it was very simple to do. I also noticed about the event/crop on how to crop the video. I dd it to the entire video clip but I’m some what sure that when you divide up the piece you want to crop then it will only effective that area.
I was able to change the percentage of the solid background and put the text in. The text pan works easy to move the text to the right place but I am having a problem of not being able to place the mask area above the bottom of the monitor.
On the news they have the name and mask above the bottom of the television. I probably have to get use to moving it around.
I read your profile and appreciate your willingness to help others. I also shoot videos and I’m working to tape lots of the indie bands in Chicago.
The website that I am working on to get it know is called https://www.Chicago3Media.com It’s fun to do and get around the city to cover events.
It helps the bands get their music out and I don’t charge them at all for covering them. None of the bands have any money to hire a production crew so this is the next best thing.
I’m sure I will have more questions for you. For now I can start working what you taught me. Just to mention, I’m assuming that I can make another video track and place a logo in the bottom right corner that will identify who created the video.
Then with putting in names I suppose that would be put on the next video track and then the following raw video footage would be put on the third video line.

Thank you again John. I know what you mean about pulling down the window to make it transparent. I didn’t know you could do that with generated media.
Thank you for letting me know that it’s alright to ask questions a lot. A guy I know said to ask only once in awhile because he said that’s the way things are done.
I’m going to try everything that you mentioned and find out if I can get it all. It’s difficult making the transition from analog to digital but it sure is a great way to edit. Very quick and you don’t have any generation loss or need to re-record raw footage like you would with analog.

Thank you John. Its a bit still technical for my skill level but I think it will give me a good start and be able to figure it out.
The one thing is the mask shouldn’t be solid but transparent. Not sure how to do that. If I used the already solid colors in the selection part and then get them 1/3 in size and then put the name on I don’t know how to make it transparent.

John, do you know how to put the mask on the video and then put the name of a person over the mask. I think I’m calling it by the right name but it’s the thing they do on the news when they are talking with someone and then they put the person’s name with his or her title up for 10 seconds.
Is there an easy way that this can be done?
How do you fade it in and fade it out?I know how to do it doing analog editing and we called it super in and out and you would use a character generator and then bring it in and then out.
Another thing is how to stations put their logo on the entire piece of footage that they show? Just like youtube does the same thing.
Any help would be appreciated.
