How do you set the length of transitions? I like to use flash but the standard length is too long. I don’t know how to work the selections so what I do is drag and drop it into my transition point on the time line and then I click off the transition window.

When I check my transition, its length needs to be less and don’t know the step by step process.

Could anyone list the steps necessary so I get a better understand how to work the transitions?

    Thank you,

    Bill

To shorten or lengthen a transition, all you do is that when
the two video clips are overlapped and you add a transition
to that bit of overlapped area….then to shorten or lengthen
you simply shorten or lengthen the overlapped bit….Hope that
    is clear for you.

I was able to find how to give a strobe effect to the video before but don’t recall how I did it. It was very simple as I recall. Do you know how to do it?

Add a Fade To Color envelope to the video track and create envelope points that quickly fade to white (top) and back.

Also for added ease of use & variety…there is a plugin
thats available for Vegas named “Pixelan CreativEase
that does this really well along with tons of other
    unique stuff.

I will give that a try. Not sure exactly about the envelopes on how you make them but I will try it the way I think it might work.

    Thank you,

John, do you know how to put the mask on the video and then put the name of a person over the mask. I think I’m calling it by the right name but it’s the thing they do on the news when they are talking with someone and then they put the person’s name with his or her title up for 10 seconds.

Is there an easy way that this can be done?
How do you fade it in and fade it out?

I know how to do it doing analog editing and we called it super in and out and you would use a character generator and then bring it in and then out.

Another thing is how to stations put their logo on the entire piece of footage that they show? Just like youtube does the same thing.

    Any help would be appreciated.

This is called a “Lower Third” because it usually takes up the lower third of the screen. The easiest way to make them is with Solid or Gradient Generated Media, or any animated or static media background of your choice. You can go into Pan/Crop and simply resize it with the Lock Aspect Ratio off to squish it into the bottom third, or use the Bezier Mask to make any shape you’d like. Use one track for the lower third and another on top of it for the name text. You can fade them on and off or push them on and off, etc. by adding a transition to each end of the events.
