I just figured out that if I have, say, a 15 second hole to fill in my timeline, but I just want to set In’s and Out’s three seconds apart for the first shot (I want to put a series of shots to fill the hole), I need to double click in the gray area between the yellow the points (to highlight the selection in the timeline). Is there some option I can set that will automatically highlight the area between my In and Out points. Thanks, Bill.

Thanks Douglas, so if I go back to my narration track in the trimmer window, my last selection (with a gray box) is still selected. I have to drag the cursor out of the selection area to continue playing ahead? Also, I have two channels of audio recorded, can I just listen to one channel in the trimmer? Thanks, Bill.

Thanks Douglas, the tutorial helped a lot. Here’s a problem I’m still having: I have a 15 second blank spot (no video) in my timeline (audio only, on track 3); I set In and Out points approx. 3 seconds apart (there is a gray box between points, but the color between points has not changed on timeline). I set an In point in the trimmer, when I push the “A” key all the video that is to the right of the In point in the trimmer is added to the timeline, not just the three seconds that I wanted. If I double click in the blank spot in the timeline I get a 15 second “Colored” selection, which I can make smaller by dragging the right “Out” point to the left, but I find it hard to get it exactly where I want it because I want to be able to set In’s and Out’s easily while listening to the narration track. Thanks Rob for the feedback. I just tried it again. Unless I leave the “Collapse Loop Region When No Timeline is Present” box unchecked, it won’t do a three-point edit (only one “In” point set in trimmer), but lays the entire event in the trimmer from the In point to the end, even if I have, say, a five second selection/region in the timeline. However, if I leave this box unchecked it won’t let me set In/Outs with “I” and “O” keys, also I just checked again–Fit-to-Fill is disabled. I have to be able to set an In point, listen to a piece narration track, tweak it frame by frame, and set an out point. I can’t just scrub a loop region. Also, I want a selection, but I don’t want it to loop. I just want to continue from last Out point when I hit play again (spacebar) to cue up next piece of narration. I found that even if I do Ctrl Q that it loops unless I hit play, then stop. Thanks, Bill.
