September 12, 2012 at 7:30 pm in reply to: V9 problem with RED Epic clips

I have also this problem, with regular xdcam clips. Clips don’t have metadata, only tc and name ….
    like ” xxx_D03_camA_shot 001.02″
As it’s multicam project with a TC lock, resolve seems a bit confuse between CamA, CamB…camC rush without a good metadata
I also read here that black thumbsnails could be a permission problem whith folders!!!
Most of the time if i save project, quit and reload, most of them appears…after i have to make a relink
Any help with that wll be nice 🙂
    Tks

Here is our process and If i did understand you very well 🙂

    – duplicate the sequence in FCP ( pixel dvpal, 720×576, inférior, Apple prores )
    – export the sequence
    – import In Da vinci and use scène cut détection to create your EDL
    – In média pool change the aspect pixel ratio to PAL or PAL 16/9 up to your case
    – grading time
    – render in prores with ” enable video field rendering
    – re import in FCP:
    – settings of your new sequence:
    * change the frame from supérior to inférior
    * change codec to DV pal
    * pixel PAL or PAL 16/9

and normaly here you are 🙂

    Cheers!

February 29, 2012 at 2:46 pm in reply to: Most NVidia cards now work on the mac

    hi Juan,

i’m working home under hackintosh and outside with real macpro…so since 2 years i followed a lot that kind of thread:

Of course it’s good news from nvidia but there is a lot of problems.

The 2 days old driver ( for lion) have been benchmarked by users and they have like 20% lost of framerate. Yes, all card should work but All those new cards have very high power consumption! And you do not have enough power on real mac…

    “Graphic power management” kext
    and
    “cpu power management” kext

are still in your system to limitate your performance!

We killed those kexts on hackintosh but we have other components, and other cooling system!
Up to you to do the same on real mac but it’s at your own risk.

All those new NVidia cards works at 90°C , my GTX285 is at 60°…
Power consumption are the double in full mode…That’s why you had crash with denoising

So unless you put new cooling system and new power in your mac, be carefull or go with Cubix extender!

    regards

Yes exactly, The files are in the folder but not in the média brother:
It realy is a problem of codec, but the anoying stuf is that They are encoded in prores! So difficult to identifiate.
What was appenning! some of those files were encoded in AE from annimation codec to prores. The bug seems to be here!

    regards

same problem Here after exporting from fcp Xml.
Seem to be a random problem, everything is in prores!
some .mov doesn’t appear in the média pool after a independant import.
few shots come from 5dmark2, other from AE annimation?
    Any clues?
    tks
