    Thanks for all the responses.

The main projects I work on are film trailers and often editing together short films, in addition to this, I’ve recently been working on a number of music videos (whatever jobs I can get at the moment). So I do quite a varied set of projects.

The main reason why I am considering swapping from PP and FCP to AVID is purely on an employability basis.

Like Fred mentioned, AVID editors are more highly considered by employers and generally earn more. I’m currently a student trying to get a solid foundation of both experience and technical skills before going into the scary world, and am trying to consider what would put me one step ahead of all the countless young editors also out there.

I’ve had an ongoing work experience and advice from a UK based trailer production company, and am essentially just trying to broaden my skills.

I think PPro 6 is a work of pure beauty, I prefer the interface and the flexibility you have with the program in comparison with FCP.

  • I was having the exact same problem, I adopted the technique of just shrinking the audio down in volume so that you can’t hear it.

Thanks for the excellent tip with the P key!

I understand that the magnetic timeline can be very beneficial, but I always find my timeline to be somewhat messier in comparison to using a program such as Adobe Premiere or FCP7?
