I use a variety of footage codecs. For editing: ProRes. For comping and Color Correct: Arri LogC, Red, etc.

So, I could use an SSD for the OS/Programs. A separate SSD for cache. And a HDD for Footage and media.

Right?

How big would you recommend for the SSD that holds cache?

What would you recommend for the footage and media drive?

I have tried several ways. I have done the typical export. I have tried Export through QT compression (applying upper dominance in these settings). I have even tried taking the progressive exported QT and interlacing it within Compressor. No dice on any of these tactics.

So, at the end of the day, since I have to output 29.97, it makes no difference whether I edit in 23.98 or 29.97… correct?

HD Cam for the HD and DigiBeta for the SD.

I was thinking of something like the Ikey M505’s… thoughts on that? I will have a Kona 3 breakout box, so I will be handle XLR if necessary.
