I experienced this recently with a MacBook Pro, and I had success updating from Red Giant Link vs. the traditional Trapcode Suite installers. Hopefully you’ve already solved the issue, but just in case, Red Giant Link worked for me.

Easy fix. In After Effects, make sure your “Preview” window is open. If not, go to the menu and select:
    Window > Preview

In the Preview window panel, toggle the icon on the bottom right corner to turn loop on/off. It is a rectangle with a play icon on it. That should do it!

The rode/zoom combo is a great solution. You can get twice the file backup redundancy if you run the Zoom Line Out into the Mic In (1/8 jack). Fair warning, it might be worth investing in a line/mic conversion cable depending on what camera you are using to pad the unbalanced signal. There is a -25db cable that works well with the Mark III. The Zoom will have higher quality audio, but will make re-syncing much easier! Good luck!

Gamma shifts during After Effects renders have been an epic battle depending on what codec/output module you are using, IE, Pro Res, Animation, QT, etc. What is your workflow from AE, and what codec is your file when you render from AE?

Are you using RED footage as well? How did you transcode/import your original source media?

Don’t forget to double check your upper/lower field dominance if you are exporting footage to/from After Effects. Scaling vs. traditional HD up conversion could add more problems if the footage isn’t interpreted properly, but both apps will give you Interpret Footage options.
