Thanks Stephen – I have now downloaded the driver after 6 months of assuming it wasn’t going to work and looking forward to increased transfer speeds for my P2 capture..

Follow up question re: the rpm speed and apologies for my elementary understanding of rpm vs transfer rate:

If I have a 5400rpm hard drive but am able to connect it via e-sata do you think I will be ok for HD video editing – or would you still advise that I go with 7200rpm?

Jeremy – is it worth getting this drive for use with a mac – as I have tried connecting another drive through an e-sata adapter with no joy and my understanding now is that mac and external e-sata is not compatible…

Another question I have on dropped frames, since you mention it is:

Will increasing the RAM in my computer decrease the likelyhood of dropped frames. My computer has 2gb RAM and generally runs fine – except I occasionally get dropped frames in fcp whatever my settings are at.

The audio continues but the image freezes. Also forgot to mention that the flipcam shoots mpeg4. So it is an mpeg4 30 fps image.

It works fine in its own sequence but in the 720p 50fps sequence the render bar is orange, which Ive never seen, so It doesn’t need rendering but just freezes although the audio continues.

Thanks for your response Jim. I am shooting DVCPro HD 720 25PN. My fcp settings are also set to this but in the Compressor it reads it as DVCPro HD 720p50. There doesn’t seem to be any codec for 720/25p, or for native. Does this need a particular codec.

It seems like everything is ok in FCP.

Footage also looks off when viewed in P2 Viewer directly from card. But, again, it’s fine when viewed in the camera.
