    I went down the still image route in the end. It works pretty well so thanks again.

    Thanks Tony I did what you suggested,

    I have a question though, the clean wooden background (from the duplicated layer within the mask) changes as the shot pans and is really noticeable. How do I keep the same piece of wood within the mask.
