Hey Chris – I originally read it as EX 1!!! seems we both had EX 1 on the brain. Yeah it belongs in the HDV forum… or… maybe the OP meant EX 1?

… and to add to Bobs comments, when you start fiddling with TBC controls you really need a waveform/vectorscope.

(ps ebay have many of these remote TBC controllers with the 15p D connector)

I have a G5 2.3 and edit HDCAM via a multibridge extreme (uncompressed 8 bit 1920×1080 50i) using 2 x 1 TB 7200rpm drives in raid – it is close to the limit but it works! But my octo core Mac pro is the bee’s knee’s for that type of work.

…and HDCAM SR has 12 channels of audio so you can include MIX + M&E along with your 6 channels of 5.1.

What audio output device are you using Mike? (eg Kona, Blackmagic etc)

July 4, 2009 at 1:57 am in reply to: Limiting all audio together

If you apply a limiter to a whole mixed track then any over limit on a single item (eg an FX bang) will cause the whole track to be limited when an over limit occurs. This can be most detrimental to the final mix. Remember limiters are not just mere ‘clippers’.

Ideally you should put limiters on individual tracks so as not to cause this problem.

On large projects autosave in FCP happens in the blink of an eye. But in Adobe Premiere you have time to go get a coffee.
Maybe some fear it from their Adobe days.

  • ALSO – The next version of FCP will edit BPAV natively so the .mov’s will be redundant. (oooops did I say that!?!)

OK so here is an update – I just updated to 6.0.6 and can’t make it crash… maybe its going thru an incredibly stable stage at the moment – one hopes it lasts forever.

Now lets hope they have fixed the export to tape bug thats been there since way back when….
