I have a Sony Betacam SP deck (videocassette recorder uvw-1800) and I think the black levels must be off on it. Anything captured to or from has heavy contrast. Is there a way to set the black level on this device?

there sure is. The UVW-1800 has a built in time base corrector, and Sony used to sell TBC remote panels for this VTR for $700. Since Sony no longer makes this product, you can look at https://www.markertek.com for TBC remote control panels, that will be MUCH MUCH cheaper. Just make sure they say it works with Sony VTR’s.

So, is there a way you can adjust this for free – NO.

… and to add to Bobs comments, when you start fiddling with TBC controls you really need a waveform/vectorscope.

(ps ebay have many of these remote TBC controllers with the 15p D connector)

What would I do without the ‘UNDO’ button!!!!
