Hey Bret. I’ve got a solution. But for future consideration–I was looking for a way to reference sub-clips as my source. My plan was to make my cut, then (for lack of better term) reconnect them to the sub-clips with new audio. Is there anyway to do that within the application?

I decided to go XDCam because that’s how it will be finished. The event was shot with three cams but two formats: SxS cards for a Sony EX1,3 and a P2 for a HVX.

The SxS cards get encoded in XDCam Transfer. And since that’s 2/3’s of my footage, it seemed logical to just wrap it in that.

The issue is I did some redundancy when capturing but I have more data files actual clips. Matching folder to bin, it looks like one of the P2 cards didn’t dump fully.

It’s not a lion’s share of the work but it’s a lot to me…about 15-25 clips maybe. Most is B-Roll but I may have extra coverage on a speech I may want to use. Thanks for keeping up.

Hey thanks for your response. I finally got the third monitor working. Yesterday, after I had given up on resolving it…Final Cut crashed on me. In frustration I restarted my computer and magically, it came up on the third monitor–as a mirror from the split.

Somehow my monitors got switched around but I can live with that.

Thanks guys. I’ve tried multiple things and the closest I have gotten was exporting the merged MXF files through XDCam Clip Browser, and opening those in VLC. The issue now is there is a watermark like the product isn’t registered or payed for. I’ll check with my director and see if the company owns that/ or if we should buy it.

And I’m gonna keep searching. I’m interested in MXF4mac and I’m going to give it a shot.

I’m running on a Mac Pro with a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT chipset.

I bought a VGA splitter but the third monitor (HD TV) says this input is not supported, although when I plug up just one monitor with this television, it works fine as a dual monitor (using VGA).

I have also tried to piggy back the third monitor off of both the Primary and Secondary but to no avail. Another side note, my monitors are DELL 2408WFP.

That sounds messy. I just ran into the same problem.

Fortunately, I’m a pack rat so I went to a previously saved cut and copy & pasted the section I needed.

The most efficient way I would think would be to double click the nested Picture timeline, then copy it into another sequence. Do the same for the Audio but ensure it’s at the correct starting place.

That should put you in the ball park to edit again.
